POPIA notice
Draft for legal review. Plain English, because that is how we write everything. It applies to the register, the community forum and the marketplace as they run today.
Registering creates one account, which is what the forum, the poll and the marketplace run on. Name, surname and role are optional and are used to understand our audience mix and to address you properly. Your display name is the only one of these anybody else ever sees. Not shared, not sold on. Stored with our hosting processor (Netlify).
Stored only as a salted scrypt hash, never as text, and never recoverable by us. Your password is stored only as a salted hash. Your email is never displayed anywhere on the site.
Anonymous posting is the default. On anonymous posts your handle is never shown publicly; we retain the link internally solely for moderation and abuse control, under restricted access.
Short-lived counters to stop spam and abuse. Standard server logs are kept by our hosting provider for security purposes.
Ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete your account and personal information. Write to the contact below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
Registering requires your explicit agreement to this notice, and we record when you gave it. You can withdraw it by deleting your account.
Information Officer: Sergio (Franchise Hub). Email hello@franchisehub.co.za for any privacy request.
Draft v2026-08-08: to be reviewed by a South African attorney before public launch. Terms, PAIA manual and cookie notice to follow.
